Bringing the Universe Closer: Daytime Sun-gazing at Sebudi Village
Our very first community outreach. We visited Sebudi Village and introduced 60 kids to astronomy — some saw a telescope for the first time, and even got to observe the Sun safely. Just the beginning of something bigger.

Bringing Astronomy to Villages
On May 24, 2025, we went up to Sebudi Village in Kintamani with one simple goal: to share the sky.
Together with our friends at Petani TBM Janar Duta from Udayana Medical Faculty, we set up a daytime stargazing session — yes, stargazing in the daytime — using a solar telescope so the kids could safely see the Sun up close. Most of the 60 students who joined had never seen a telescope before. Some weren’t sure what it was at first. But once they looked through the lens and saw the surface of the Sun — not just a bright ball in the sky, but something real, textured, detailed — something clicked. Curiosity took over. Questions poured out.
We handed out astronomy stickers, ran a short interactive workshop, and just... spent time. No big stage, no fancy setup. Just a telescope, the sun, and a bunch of bright, excited kids who wanted to know more.
It reminded us that access to wonder — to science, to imagination — is not evenly distributed. Some of these kids had never been told they could learn about space. Some had never even thought about it. And yet here they were, eyes wide, asking about planets and stars and galaxies.
This visit was small. It took a day. But it meant a lot. And we know there are many more villages, many more children who haven’t had the chance to experience this.
#StarsForAll Movement
We planted a seed — the idea that they can be scientists, skywatchers, astronomers. That space isn't just something far away, locked in textbooks or behind city lights. It’s something they can reach for, study, be part of. No one knows how far that spark will go. But sometimes all it takes is one telescope, one moment, one "you can."
We’re not here to change the world overnight. But we are here to show up — again and again — in places where science doesn’t usually go. To bring telescopes, hands-on workshops, and real, eye-opening experiences to kids who’ve never had that chance.
This was just the beginning. The next village is already on our minds.
If you’re reading this and thinking “I want to be part of this,” — we’d love that. Whether it’s your time, your voice, or your support, it all helps us go further.
Thank you for believing in this with us. More to come.
